If you live in the Kansas City area, join the free Rock the Parkway Groupie Runs beginning in January and continuing through the weeks leading up to the event. These weekly group runs are led by KC Running Company staff and will offer a well-marked course for you to use for training for the event. Runners and walkers of all paces will run and walk with pace groups, and the out-and-back courses will allow participants to pick the distance they need for that weekend. To allow us to satisfy city permit requirements for street closures, half marathon participants must maintain a pace of 14 minutes per mile or faster. Failure to maintain the 14-minute-mile pace may result in the following:
The SmartPacing Team managed by the Runners Edge Training Program will be back for this year’s race. Instead of running an even pace for each mile, they will use a SmartPace strategy that adjusts the pace based on the hills to help you run “even effort” and start out conservatively to run more efficiently. In the half marathon, we will have pacers available for the following times:
1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:05, 2:10, 2:15, 2:20, 2:25, 2:30, 2:35, 2:40, 2:45, 2:50, 2:55, 3:00 and 3:05.
