The Rock the Parkway course, along historic Ward Parkway, is one of the most scenic in the Midwest. The long downhill finish makes it one of the fastest. It was voted a "Best Course" by area runners and is even better in 2012 with a loop around Loose Park for the half marathon turn around. We also removed the 10K race this year, making the finish line less congested and more enjoyable for both participants and fans.
The USATF-certified course will have five aid stations for half marathoners and one for 5K participants, along with large distance markers. Click on the map links below for a look at some of the scenery along the course.
To allow us to satisfy city permit requirements for street closures, half marathon participants must maintain a pace of 14 minutes per mile or faster. We have recruited pace group leaders from the Runners Edge Training Program for pace groups at 5-minute intervals from 1 hour 30 minutes (6:52 pace) to 2 hours 50 minutes (13:00 pace).
In the half marathon, we will have pacers available for the following times:
1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:05, 2:10, 2:15, 2:20, 2:25, 2:30, 2:35, 2:40, 2:45, 2:50
